Dental Veneers

TMJ/TMD Treatment

If you are looking for a beautiful smile, porcelain veneers may be the answer for you. Veneers are a great treatment option for teeth that are stained, fractured, chipped, or misaligned.

Dental veneers (often referred to as porcelain veneers) are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) and designed to cover the front surface of teeth and improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth creating a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions. They can be used to fix:

  • Crooked teeth.
  • Misshapen teeth.
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth.
  • Teeth that are too small or large.
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces.
  • Worn or chipped teeth.

Benefits of porcelain veneers include:

  • Strong and long-lasting
  • A natural-looking surface
  • Less tooth enamel needs to be removed than with a crown or cap
  • Veneers don’t stain easily

After a complete, thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and supporting bone structure, your Gilbert dentist will review treatment options with you and answer any questions your may have. The veneer procedure typically involves:

  • Applying a local anesthetic to the affected area of your mouth
  • Removing a small amount of enamel from the front of your tooth to make place for the veneer (usually less than half a millimeter)
  • Use of special imaging to design and create your veneer. The shade of veneer will be matched to best fit your smile.
  • Cleaning and polishing the tooth’s front surface
  • Bonding the veneer in place to permanently affix it
  • Exposing the veneer to a special hand-held light to harden the repaired surface of your tooth

Veneers may be a great option for you to help create a beautiful smile you’ll be proud of. Typically our Gilbert dentist can complete a veneer treatment in just one office visit. With proper care and good oral hygiene, a veneer has a lifespan of 5-10 years.
